Tasiamide, a cytotoxic peptide from the marine cyanobacterium Symploca sp.
The acyclic peptide tasiamide (1) has been isolated from the marine cyanobacterium Symploca sp. The planar structure and absolute stereochemistry of the peptide were deduced by 2D NMR techniques and chiral HPLC. Tasiamide (1) was cytotoxic against KB and LoVo cells with IC(50) values of 0.48 and 3.47 microg/mL, respectively.
متن کاملEvidence for an NIH shift in oxidation of naphthalene by the marine cyanobacterium Oscillatoria sp. strain JCM.
The marine cyanobacterium Oscillatoria sp. strain JCM oxidized naphthalene predominantly to 1-naphthol. Experiments with [1-2H]naphthalene and [2-2H]naphthalene indicated that 1-naphthol was formed with 68 and 74% retention of deuterium, respectively. No significant isotope effect was observed when the organism was incubated with a 1:1 mixture of naphthalene and [2H8]naphthalene. The results in...
متن کاملLipopeptides from the Tropical Marine Cyanobacterium Symploca sp.
A collection of the tropical marine cyanobacterium Symploca sp., collected near Kimbe Bay, Papua New Guinea, previously yielded several new metabolites including kimbeamides A-C, kimbelactone A, and tasihalide C. Investigations into a more polar cytotoxic fraction yielded three new lipopeptides, tasiamides C-E (1-3). The planar structures were deduced by 2D NMR spectroscopy and tandem mass spec...
متن کاملCrystal Structure of Allophycocyanin from Marine Cyanobacterium Phormidium sp. A09DM
Isolated phycobilisome (PBS) sub-assemblies have been widely subjected to X-ray crystallography analysis to obtain greater insights into the structure-function relationship of this light harvesting complex. Allophycocyanin (APC) is the phycobiliprotein always found in the PBS core complex. Phycocyanobilin (PCB) chromophores, covalently bound to conserved Cys residues of α- and β- subunits of AP...
متن کاملAntagonistic activity of bioactive compounds extracted from cyanobacterium Oscillatoria isolated from oil refinery waste
The aim of the present study was to isolate cyanobacteria from oil refinery waste water and detection of antagonistic activity of their extracts on four species of pathogenic bacteria. The cyanobacterium was isolated and purified on Blue green algae medium number 11 (BG-11) medium. Methanol and water extracts prepared from the cultured cyanobacterium after 45 days growth on BG-11 medium. The bi...
